Small G-proteins
Wild type Ran protein, His-tagged

Cat. # RN01

Product Uses Include

  • Ran biochemistry
  • Ran GTPase assays
  • Ran nucleotide exchange assays
  • Ran binding studies

Material
The human Ran protein has been produced in a bacterial expression system. The protein is supplied as a lyophilized powder. Protein concentration is determined by the Precision Red Advanced Protein Assay Reagent, Cat. # ADV02.

The recombinant protein is approximately 31 kDa, consisting of the Ran protein plus a histidine tag in the amino-terminus.

For other forms of Ran (constitutvely active, dominant negative) as well as many other purified small G-proteins, see our main small G-protein product page.

Purity
Purity is determined by scanning densitometry of proteins on SDS-PAGE gels. His-Ran samples are >90% pure.

Figure 1: His-
Ran protein purity determination. A 10 µg sample of RN01 was separated by electrophoresis in a 12% SDS-PAGE system. The protein was stained with Coomassie Blue.

Biological Activity
Biological activity of the protein is determined by demonstrating that in GTP bound RN01 associates with RanBP1 protein (Cat. # RN07) while the GDP bound form of RN01 does not associate with the RanBBP1.
