Other sources of tubulin

Great as a secondary screen for anti-yeast, anti-fungal, anti-cancer, anti-restenosis and anti-arthritis drug discovery research. Our tubulins have been used to optimize many compounds for therapeutic activity.

Tubulins can be isolated from many eukaryotic sources: for example yeast, tetrahymena, mammalian brain and other mammalian tissues and cell lines. Investigators may wish to pursue studies on Hela cell tubulin for example in order to understand the dynamics of microtubules in cancer-like cells. Also, it is thought that different cell lines and tumors may have different isotypes of tubulin than bovine brain tubulin, thus the search for anti-tumor drugs maybe more effective if based on the appropriate tubulin isotype. Other uses of specialised tubulins maybe crystallization studies of homo-isotypic sources for example you may have a yeast or tetrahymena strain with only one α- and one β-isotype, this would be a great source to start a crystallography study.

Cytoskeleton will be pleased to isolate tubulins from a variety of sources. Please inquire for quotations. Email or call (303 322-2254) our technical support.
