K-Ras is a small GTP-binding protein that acts as a molecular switch, regulating cell growth, differentiation, and survival through key signaling pathways. Mutations in K-Ras are common in various cancers, leading to uncontrolled cell proliferation and tumor development.

G12C is recognized as one of the most frequent KRAS mutants, commonly found in non-small cell lung cancers.

Human K-Ras4B G12C protein is produced in a bacterial expression system.

The biological activity of K-Ras4B G12D is determined from the ability of the SOS1 exchange domain (SOS1-ExD) to catalyze the exchange of GDP for GTP onto mutant K-Ras4B.
