SiR700-DNA is based on the silicon rhodamine (SiR) fluorophore analogue SiR700 and the DNA minor groove binder bisbenzimide (Hoechst). SiR700-DNA allows the labelling of DNA in live cells with high specificity and low background.

The biological activity of CY-SC016 is assessed by the ability of the probe to efficiently label lysosomes in live human fibroblast cell culture. After a wash step, cell staining is visible for several hours.
